At The Blushing Cow Waxing Studio in Ocala, we specialize in exactly one thing: waxing. Not nails, not facials, not lash extensions. Just waxing. That focus means every single person on our team is trained to do this well, efficiently, and with your comfort as the top priority.
So let us walk you through exactly what to expect, start to finish. No surprises.
Before You Even Walk In the Door
Preparation makes a huge difference in your first experience. Here is what we recommend:
Let your hair grow out to about a quarter inch before your appointment. If you have been shaving, stop two to three weeks out. We know that feels like forever but trust us, it is worth it. We need something to work with and trying to wax hair that is too short just means we will need to reschedule. No one wants that.
Exfoliate the area gently two days before your appointment. This helps loosen any trapped hairs and makes the whole process cleaner. Skip exfoliating the day of though, as your skin will already be a little sensitive.
Hydrate your skin in the days leading up. Moisturized skin releases hair more easily. Just avoid applying lotion directly to the area on the day of your appointment since residue can interfere with the wax.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Think skirts, dresses, loose flowy pants, and cotton underwear. Tight jeans, leggings, and lace thongs right after a fresh wax are not your friend.
And eat something before you come. Seriously. Low blood sugar makes the whole thing more uncomfortable. You do not need a full meal, just do not arrive starving.
When You Arrive
We are located in Sheffield Plaza at 2201 SW College Rd, Unit 3, in Ocala. Parking is easy and you will find us right in the shopping center. Walk in, say hi, and we will take it from there.
We keep things moving here. We respect your time because we know you have a full life happening outside of this appointment. Kids, work, errands, the whole deal. You are not going to be sitting around waiting.
Your specialist will greet you, confirm what you are in for, offer the chance to use the restroom and walk you back. If it is your first time, we will take a moment to talk through any questions or concerns before we get started. You are never rushed into anything.
The Appointment Itself
Here is what actually happens in the room:
You will undress from the waist down and lie on a clean, freshly prepped table. We use fresh linens for every single client, no exceptions. Sanitation is non-negotiable at The Blushing Cow.
At The Blushing Cow, we use Enso wax for all of our services and carry both hard and soft wax options. Our specialists choose what is best based on your hair, your skin, and your needs that day. At the end of the day, prep and technique are what separate a great wax from a bad one, and that is exactly where we put our focus every single appointment.
The whole thing is faster than most people expect. Most Brazilian appointments at our studio are completed in well under 15-20 minutes for returning clients. First-timers may take a bit longer since we work carefully and check in with you throughout.
Does it hurt? Honestly, yes, there is some discomfort. We are not going to pretend otherwise. But it is quick, it is manageable, and the more consistently you wax, the less it bothers you over time. Most of our clients describe it as completely tolerable after their first couple of appointments.
Immediately After
When we are done, we clean up any residue, apply a soothing post-wax product, and send you on your way. Your skin may look a little pink or feel a little sensitive right after, which is completely normal.
Here is what to do and not do in the 24 to 48 hours following your appointment:
Do: Wear loose clothing. Keep the area clean and dry. Use the sample of oil that we provide to keep the skin soft and hydrated.
Skip: Hot tubs, pools, saunas, and intense workouts for at least 24 hours. Tight clothing that creates friction. Exfoliating products right away.
After about 48 hours, you can start incorporating gentle exfoliation back into your routine. We actually recommend alternating between physical exfoliation (like a dry brush or our favorite LUV Scrubs) and chemical exfoliation on alternating days to keep ingrown hairs at bay and keep your skin feeling smooth between appointments.
What About Ingrown Hairs?
This is one of the most common concerns we hear and we get it. Ingrown hairs are annoying. The good news is that consistent waxing combined with a solid aftercare routine dramatically reduces them over time.
We carry aftercare products in our studio specifically chosen to address ingrown hairs, including an ingrown serum that works really well for clients who are prone to them. We also love lightweight oils applied after exfoliation to keep the skin hydrated without clogging pores. Ask us at your appointment and we will point you in the right direction.
